Archery (Grades 4-8)
Congratulations to all Chatfield Archers and Coaches!
It was a wonderful year with many amazing accomplishments and "Personal Records" (for many archers).
A special recognition to Emily Hill, Charlize Haworth, Cassandra Verellen, and Anna Heffel for qualifying for the Michigan NASP Archery Tournament on 3/10 at CMU. They represented our school well and shot to the best of their abilities among some of the best in the state AND nation.
The 2018 - 2019 Chatfield Archery Team will begin practices on November 2nd from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Any student in grades 4-8 can be part of the team regardless of their experience in shooting a bow. Grades 4th and 5th are the "elementary team" while grades 6th, 7th, and 8th are the "middle school team." *The team will practice every Friday from 6:00-7:30 p.m. unless a school event is scheduled in the gym. Archery Tournaments will begin in late January and go through the month of March and possibly one or two in April (with one being "out of state). The Michigan NASP "state tournament" (typically hosted at CMU) is commonly the second Saturday in the month...March 9th). The Chatfield School will host their own archery invitational the first weekend in March...Saturday and Sunday (3/2 and 3/3). We will also host a fun event called the "Chatfield Community Shoot" with will be the fourth consecutive year in 2019. It is open to ANY student in grades 3-12 in addition to any adult. All participants must shoot a Genesis Bow for the event (which will provide the bow and arrows for any participant without their own). April 27 is the current date set for the "community shoot" at Chatfield..
*No archery practices (at Chatfield) on the following dates: 11/23, 12/28, 1/25, 2/8
All participants will use a Genesis Bow to shoot Easton Arrows for our team events. Although archery team members are encouraged to own their own Genesis Bow, it is not required. Archers without their own Genesis Bow can use one through the program for an additional fee of $35.
Archery Team Fee: $85
Fee includes: 6 tournaments, regional tournament (to qualify for the state event in March), use of practice arrows, six new "tournament arrows," possible "state tournament" participation upon qualifying, and a 2019 "team shirt" for the season.
Chatfield Archery always welcomes "program sponsors" for the support of the activity. The sponsorship will include a team picture, sponsorship plaque, and public recognition at all Chatfield archery hosted events. Please contact Keith Verellen, Chatfield Archery Director, for more information regarding "sponsorship" of the archery program and teams.
