8th Grade

“Today you are YOU, that is truer than true. There is NO ONE alive who is youer than you.” ~Dr. Suess

Here in the eighth grade, we are working together to figure out how to apply this advice from Dr. Seuss. Our discussions about identity are evolving as we read the novel, Milkweed by Jerry Spinelli. In addition to applying the themes of this story to our learning about identity, the students are digging into the history of the Holocaust, which is when the novel takes place.

Over the course of the next two quarters, students will also be applying their political knowledge and research skills to write a persuasive paper on a current domestic policy in the United States. Not only does this project enable the students to practice researching, organizing data, and writing persuasively, it also directly relates to their studies and understanding of the United States Constitution. Due dates and informational handouts will be posted under the Class Notes section at the right.

In Science, we will continue to grow as chemists by practicing the scientific process through fun, and sometimes tasty, experiments. Check the photo links at the right for some shots of the learning in action!

Thank you for learning with us.
